		Rabat entwickelte sich in arabischer Zeit aus dem Markt der vor der Toren Mdinas stattfand. Das Highlight der alten Marktstadt sind aber die frühchristlichen Grabanlagen, die sich ausserhalb der römischen Stadtmauern erstrecken. Eine davon ist St. Agathas Catacombs. Der weitläufige Komplex besteht aus einer Höhlenkirche aus dem 4. Jh. und einem bis heute nicht völlig erforschten Gewirr von Gängen. Viele der Gänge sind mit christlichen Symbolen verziert.		Rabat evolved in the Arab time from the market, which was held in front of the gates Mdinas. The highlight of the old market town are, however, the early Christian grave installations, that are stretched outside the Roman city walls. One of them is St. Agathas Catacombs. The extensive complex consists of a cave church from the 4th Century and a still not fully		explored maze of corridors. Many of the corridors are decorated with Christian symbols.
