 | Das Hypogäum von Hal Saflieni wurde in der Jungsteinzeit vor rund 5400 Jahren zehn Meter tief in den Sandstein gehauen. Kultischer Grundgedanke des Labyrinths war die Vorstellung, dass die Lebens- und Wachstumskräfte Mitten aus der Erde kommen. Im Untergeschoss werden Gräber vermutet, während im oberen Stock Fruchtbarkeitskulte zelebriert wurden. Das Hypogäum gehört zum UNESCO Welterbe. | The Hypogeum of Hal-Saflieni was hewn ten meters deep into the sandstone in the Neolithic Age, about 5400 years ago. Cultic basic idea of the labyrinth was the estimation that life and growth come from the middle of the earth. In the basement are suspected graves, while on the upper floor fertility cults were celebrated. | The Hypogeum belongs to the UNESCO World Heritage Site. | |||
